Research Staff
The Faculty of Information Science and Computing (FIC) invites applications for the position of research personnel in the following areas: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Financial Technology and Business Intelligence, Microelectronics, Robotics and related disciplines. Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and funding availability.
As part of a strategic expansion, UM recently established five science and technology faculties through the restructuring of part of its existing faculties. In which, the FIC emerges from a thoughtful and forward-looking reorganization of the former Faculty of Science and Technology (FST was the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at UM), reflecting our university’s commitment to sharper academic focus, greater interdisciplinary synergy, and a more agile response to the rapidly evolving landscape of information science and intelligent technologies. UM is among the top 0.1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science and ranked 79th in the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings in computer science. In the THE World University Ranks, the Computer Science programmes are ranked among the 101th – 125th, arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years.
Qualifications
- Visiting Fellows:
A doctoral degree and professional rank at Associate Professor or above in related disciplines; a solid research record and expertise.
- Postdoctoral Fellows:
A doctoral degree in related disciplines; a solid record of publication and scientific training.
- Research Assistants:
A bachelor’s degree or above in related disciplines, with relevant research and/or project experience.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible.
Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
