Job Overview

The International School of Macao seeks a dedicated and supportive Educational Assistant (EA) to work in Grades 1 to 6. This position requires flexibility, strong self-management skills, and a proactive approach to supporting student learning and development. The EA will work under the direction of classroom teachers and grade-level teams to provide targeted support in academic and social-emotional areas.

Responsibilities and Duties

Under the direction of the classroom teacher or grade-level team, the Educational Assistant will:

• Support students in class or in small group settings for learning.
• Facilitate and encourage the development of student self-esteem and independence.
• Encourage students to develop and maintain positive interactions with peers and adults.
• Provide input to the teacher for planning purposes.
• Participate in scheduled meetings.
• Consult and collaborate with school team members.
• Support students in accessing and using technology effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and school matters.
• Maintain collegial and professional relationships with all staff at school.
• Work with students in a variety of settings, including supervision at breaks and on field trips.
• Follow other duties as assigned by the school, including supervision duties and professional development activities.

Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

• Language Proficiency: Good level of English proficiency, additional languages an asset.
• Subject Knowledge: Good understanding of core subjects including Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and English. Familiarity with the IB-PYP framework is considered an asset.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Google Suite (key technical requirement), as well as familiarity with using Apple and Google Chrome devices.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish trust and rapport with students; strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
• Personal Qualities: Dedicated, flexible, creative, proactive; resilient, patient and understanding.
• Reliability: Reliable and dependable; maintains integrity and is trustworthy.

Qualifications

• Experience with Children: Documented experience working with children (Required).
• Educational Setting Experience: Experience working in an educational setting, including teacher training (Preferred).
• Technical Skills: Strong technical skills in Google Suite (Required).
• Additional Languages: Proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages (Preferred).
• English Proficiency: Strong English proficiency (Required).

Requirements

• Applicants must be Macao ID holders.

Child Safeguarding

• Fulfil their role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students in the school.
• Attend regular professional development, child protection and safeguarding programs and sign a Code of Conduct.
• Report to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student.
